The Vipers who has two losses, one tie and one win against the Avalanche in the regular season open up the first period with some offensive pressure but the Avalanche held them off for most of the first period. However, with 44 seconds left in the first period Roberts took the puck end to end and scored the first goal of the game to make it 1-0 at the end of the first period. The Vipers opened up the second period with more offensive pressure but they were not able to score throughout most of the second period. However, with 5 minutes and 22 seconds left in the second period Robbins scored the second goal of the game(assisted by Maney and Oulette) to make it 2-0 in favor of the Vipers. However, the Avalanche did score two goals about thirty seconds apart at the end of the second period to make it 2-2. The Avalanche continued their offensive pressure into the third period but the Vipers defense and goal tender was able to hold them off. Sargent stopped a three on one rush from the Avalanche at the beginning of the third period and goal tender Devereaux with stood a 3 man rush from the Avalanche soon afterwards. As the end of the game drew closer the Vipers continued their persistent offensive pressure and Andrew Perry scored the third goal of the game to make it 3-2 in favor of the Vipers. Soon afterward with 1 minute and 50 seconds left in the game Oulette scored the 4th goal of the game(assisted by Roberts) to make it 4-2 in favor of the Vipers. The Avalanche pulled their goalie and the Vipers with stood the offensive pressure from the Avalanche and Sasso scored an open net goal(assisted by goalie Devereaux) with a few seconds left in the game.
