The Vipers took on division rivals, the Boch Blazers and finally gained the edge to get their first win of the tournament.  This game was tight from beginning to end.  The difference was a blast from the point from Simon Vinci, assisted by Matt Goguen and was all the scoring the Vipers needed.  Joey Theriault earned a well-deserved shutout and the defense of Simon Vinci, Jaret Simpson, Sam Shippee and Jake Regan kept the Boch Blazers off the puck.  This was a team effort and an exciting win.

Vipers Almost Survive the Wolfpack, 3-7

Saturday, January 14, 2012, 9:04AM

Welcome to the Bubble---Best known for its lack of bathrooms, seating, and open locker rooms.  The team took the ice and skated their fastest and their hardest so far this tournament.  The Vipers would score first with a fantastic pass by Connor McCarron to Matthew Goguen.   The Wolfpack get on the board with a goal to tie up the game.  Connor McCarron shot from the corner to put the Vipers up 2-1 (assisted by Matt Goguen) .  The opponents would add another goal and we would end the first period 2-2.  The Wolfpack would score two quick goals in the second period, to put them up 4-2.  Matt Goguen would bring the Vipers within one before the second period ended.  Unfortunately, the Wolfpack exploited our weaknesses in took control of the game in the third period  by adding three more goals.  Kudos go to Jake Caruso, Jimmy Theriault and Chris Flannery for breaking up some key plays of the Wolfpack.
