Summer Skills - SELECT SKILLS HOCKEY

Friday, June 12, 2009, 4:00AM

We highly recommend that all Vipers continue to skate at least once a week through out the off-season.  Although, it is important that the kids get out and enjoy the summer, the Vipers program is based on continual development.  The weekly camps allow a player to get on the ice once a week while retaining their comfort level on their skates.  Kids that hang 'em up for the summer spend the first month of the season trying to regain that comfort on their skates and timing with the puck.  Development is achieved through long term repetition of the core skills.  So enjoy the beach, but get on the ice once a week!

Select Skills Hockey will be running the skating & skills programs once a week throughout the entire summer.  Many Vipers enjoyed the camp last summer.  The camp routinely sells out so reserve your spot now.  Walk-ons are allowed only if attendance permits.  A Flex-Pass can also be purchased which allows a player to attend 6 sessions of your choice and guarantees entrance when walk-ons are not allowed.

98Vipers: Shoot For A Cure / U15 SPLIT - TIER 1

Friday, May 22, 2009, 4:00AM

The 98Vipers will be participating in the North Shore Medical Center Cancer Walk on Sunday June 21, 2009. Proceeds from this years walk will directly benefit the expansion and relocation of the NSMC Cancer Center to the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers.

The 98Vipers is made up of young hockey players ages 10/ 11 who reside throughout the North Shore and Greater Boston area. To give our players a better understanding of the adversities in life that people are faced with and to keep in perspective that the game of hockey is just that..a game, we have decided to walk as a team in this year's event. We also have many families on our team who have been directly affected by this ferocious disease and we walk in support of them as well, just as we support our teammates on the ice.

We are reaching out to you so that you may help us reach our goal,  as we Shoot For A Cure ! Please follow the link below to our Fundraising Page where you will find that donating is extremely quick and easy.

NEHL: Age Appropriate Hockey

Monday, March 16, 2009, 4:00AM

As tryouts have now begun, we have had a lot of questions from parents regarding the recent change by NEHL to ensure age appropriate competition.

"Will my child be playing against kids of the same birth year?"

In the past, some NEHL teams were allowed to play in a division with teams that were a year older.  However, for the 2009-10 season, the NEHL has now realigned the divisions so that all teams are age appropriate.  There will no longer be younger teams playing up.  This will ensure that all divisions will be age appropriate competition this coming season.

NH Avalanche Join NEHL for 2009-10

Thursday, March 12, 2009, 4:00AM

The New Hampshire Avalanche this past week was accepted into the NEHL for play beginning in the 2009-10 season. The Hooksett-based program will be a welcomed addition to the NEHL and will raise the level of competition across the board from Mites through Bantam Major. The NH Avalanche program is coming off a strong season of play in their final year in the Metropolitan Boston Hockey League (MBHL) with seven of its teams finishing in third place or higher. Three Avalanche teams finished the 2008-09 regular season in the #1 spot including the '96 squad and two undefeated teams -  the '98 team (30-0-0) and the '00 team (17-0-1), which is a testament to the overall talent in the organization. The NEHL looks forward to another top program in New England joining what is already perceived as the premier AAA League in New England and will make for a very competitive 2009-10 season.
