98Vipers v Assabet, 3-1 / U15 SPLIT - TIER 1

Saturday, January 23, 2010, 5:00AM
After capturing the JWK Memorial Tournament Championship the 98's headed back into league action looking to solidify their spot in the very tough NEHL American, and they did just enough to take out an always pesky AVP squad 3-1. The home team would get on the board first via the shorty from Dante Maribito as he would benefit from a great play by Kyle Lynch at the blueline to spring Maribito on the breakaway and the 1-0 lead. Maribito would add his second of the game just 2 minutes later to make it 2-0, Kyle Hentosh picked up the helper on that one. Just 30 seconds later Ryan Connearney would make a great play at his offensive blueline by keeping the puck in and Heath King would wind up with the puck on his stick alone in front and would deposit it in the top corner. Nick Fiorientino would do the rest between the pipes as they would hold on to a 3-1 win. Defenseman Patrick McCarthy, out since November with a broken wrist would return and play a very solid game on the blue line.

98Vipers v NECDL Classics, 4-1 / U15 SPLIT - TIER 1

Sunday, January 3, 2010, 5:00AM
The Vipers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and went on to upend the EHF league leaders 4-1. Brendan White would get the home team on the board first while shorthanded as his tenacious fore checking would pay off as he was able to knock in a goal mouth scramble for the unassisted goal. About a minute later Kyle Lynch (2-1-3) would net the eventual game winner and Kyle Hentosh (0-2-2) would pick up the assist, and on the power play Dante Maribito would finish the first period scoring with help from Hentosh and Lynch. There would be no scoring in the second period for either team and the Classics would get on the board late in the third only to be answered by another Lynchy goal, which came from nothing but hard work in front of the net, Matty Tauro picked up an assist on the play. Nick Fiorentino made a couple of big saves early in the game as he gave way to Aaron McDonnell who finished up nicely.

98Vipers v Warrior Selects, 3-2 / U15 SPLIT - TIER 1

Sunday, January 3, 2010, 5:00AM

The Vipers edged the well coached, much improved VJW Selects on Sunday 3-2 in a non-league contest. The Vipers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Heath King finished off a nice 2 on 1  with Kyle Hentosh, Kyle Lynch also picked up a helper on the play, the Vipers would extend the lead on a nice individual effort by Alex DelVento as he won a foot race with a Warrior D, gathered the puck and was able to slide it into the net, Braden Haley picked up the assist on the play. Jt Chamberlain finished off a nice rush with Brendan White and Noah Maercklein picking up assists on the eventual game winning goal. The Warriors would pull within 1 with 1:44 left as they scored off the face-off, but could not sustain any pressure in the last minute with the goalie pulled. Goalies Aaron McDonnell and Nick Fiorentino played well when called upon. Ryan Connearney chipped in with some fine play on the blue line

98Vipers Blanked by Glades, 0-4 / U15 SPLIT - TIER 1

Saturday, January 2, 2010, 5:00AM
The Vipers looked to complete the season sweep vs the Glades but had to settle for taking 3 of 4 from them as the Glades played a very nice game in handing the Vipers a decisive 4-0 loss, scoring 2 goals in the last 3 minutes to put this one away. The Vipers looked a bit tired and uninspired at times.

98Vipers v Glades, 2-0 / U15 SPLIT - TIER 1

Saturday, January 2, 2010, 5:00AM
The Vipers turned in a solid effort in the first of two with the Glades. The Glades came out playing very physical and eager to avenge 2 previous losses. Kyle Hentosh  would get the home team on the board early in the second period after a scoreless 1st period as he collected the rebound off a Dante Maribito shot and one timed it in for the eventual game winner, Kyle Lynch would also chip in with the helper. Jt Chamberlain would put the Vipers up by two with help from line mates Brendan White and Noah Maercklein and that would be all she wrote in this one as the Vipers use some stingy defense and solid goaltending by Aaron McDonnell in this one

98Vipers Fly With Falcons, 4-6 / U15 SPLIT - TIER 1

Sunday, December 27, 2009, 5:00AM
Trying to avenge their worst loss of the season just one week prior the 98s traveled to Enfield to take on the high flying Flacons, the Vipers played a very strong game but could not come away with any points as they fell 6-4 to the Falcons and friends. The Vipers would come out of the gates strong but unfortunately the officials didn't as just 1 minute into the game the officials would credit a goal to the home team that never came close to going in as it struck both goal posts and came out. That misfortune seemed to rally the troops as the Vipers would score the next 2 goals as Brendan White (1-1-2) and JT Chamberlain (2-1-3) would jam home goal mouth scrambles to give the visitors a 2-1 lead after 1. The home team would then score 3 in the second sandwiched around another Chamberlain beauty, but would be trailing 4-3 after 2 periods. Braden Haley would score the Vipers fourth goal from Rob Murphy and Alex Delvento but it was just to little to late against the Falcons. The Vipers also had a goal taken away from them in this one as well as lady luck certainly was certainly not on their side in this one. Matty Tauro would also pick up an assist in this one.

98Vipers Pull By PA Selects / U15 SPLIT - TIER 1

Saturday, December 26, 2009, 5:00AM
In a game that resembled a tractor pull at times the 98 Vipers used a Kyle Lynch goal with 1:47 to play to take a 3-2 victory on the road and win the season series against the talented PA Selects. That goal would also give Lynchy the hat for the day as he was a man on a mission in this one. Lynchy (3-0-3) would get the visitors on the board early in the second after a scoreless first period, linemates Dante Maribito (0-2-2) and Kyle Hentosh(0-2-2) would help out on the first goal. The Panthers would score the next 2 goals to take the 2-1 lead into the third period, but with 6 minutes left Hentosh would get the puck back to Christain Kukas (0-1-1) on the point, his shot would end  up on the stick of Lynchy and he would deposit it over the Nashua goalies glove hand for the tie. Then just 10 seconds after killing a penalty Lynchy would come out of the box and storming into the offensive zone and bang in a rebound for the winner.

Vipers Help Ace Baily Children Foundation

Wednesday, December 23, 2009, 5:00AM

The 98Vipers and 00Vipers teamed up this Christmas and instead of the team pitching in for their coaches with the usual gift cards or golden whistle, each player from both teams brought in a toy and a donation in the coaches names was made to the Ace Bailey Childrens Foundation - Child Life Wish List Toy Drive. All the toys were collected and were dropped off this past Saturday and are getting ready to be delivered to the Floating Hospital for Children.

98Vipers Stunned by Falcons, 0-10 / U15 SPLIT - TIER 1

Saturday, December 19, 2009, 5:00AM

This past Saturday the Vipers hosted the powerful New England Falcons and the Vipers could do nothing to stop the Falcon offensive show as they scored 3 goals in each of the first two periods and 4 in the third on their way to the route and the 98 Vipers worst loss in team history. The Vipers will look to rebound next week with 2 big league games, one of which will be a rematch with the Falcons.
