It was a valiant effort put forth by the Vipers during this playoff game against the Raiders. The Raiders had 2 goals within the 1st 6 minutes of the 1st period. The Vipers made their mark on the scoreboard after a defensive battle was won by Sargent. He cleared the puck and made a strong pass to Roberts who took the puck down the left side of the ice for the shot and the goal. 2 minutes later Aylward made a pass across ice. Jake came in on the right, shot and made the goal. At the end of the 1st period the score was 2-3. The Vipers had a great 2nd period defensively. Sargent, Marshall, Maney, Robbins, Haggerty and Ouellette played with heart and not only defended our goal but set up and participated in offensive plays. Worthley, Senier and Calautti line scored the next four goals. The passing amongst this line was impressive. Worthley had 2 of the 4 goals with 1 assist Senier had 1 goal with 2 assists and Calautti had 1 goal and 1 assist. Marshall also had an assist. By the end of the 2nd period the Vipers had taken the lead with 6-5. The 3rd period was even play for the 1st 10 minutes. With 3 minutes left, the Raiders tied it up. Despite the Vipers best effort, the Raiders scored again with 1 minute left of the game. The Vipers pulled their goaltender in hopes to win the next play but a lucky shot went down the ice into the net securing the Raiders victory. The Vipers played some of their best hockey in this game and should be very proud.
