U18Black – Community Service Active Shooting Drills with (North East Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council)

Wednesday, September 17, 2014, 1:01PM

The Greater Boston Vipers U18 team recently partnered with Jeff Vinciulla (North-West District Coordinator N.E.M.L.E.C. – Incident Management Team – SWAT / RRT Liaison) to participate in some extremely important “Active Shooter” field training drills for local police officers, firefighters and emt’s. Players were able to experience an inside view of how these professionals respond to these types of incidents on sight September 7th at the Chestnut Hill Mall. The participants were acting as every day mall shoppers playing a variety of roles such as an injured person (wearing simulated injuries) as well as participating in the seek and recovery exercises in some very intense loud training exercises. Players were schooled in how to react in such situations, where to seek shelter and how or how not to communicate during these key situations.

All players represented themselves as well as the Vipers program in a very mature professional manner and have earned praise and an accommodation from the local affiliated Newton Police Department!

Congratulations to participants:   Andrew Somerville, Patrick Somerville, Bernard McGovern, Jason Smith, Ryan Smith Cameron Geary, Nick Fantasia, Brendan Reagan, Nick Silva, Max Anderson, Ryan Tierney, Ryan Spagnoli, Joe Kelly, Liam along with Coach Scot Somerville and Team Leader Jeff Vinciulla
