We will schedule an evaluation with one of our coaches.
As tryouts have now begun, we have had a lot of questions from parents regarding the recent change by NEHL to ensure age appropriate competition.
In the past, some NEHL teams were allowed to play in a division with teams that were a year older. However, for the 2009-10 season, the NEHL has now realigned the divisions so that all teams are age appropriate. There will no longer be younger teams playing up. This will ensure that all divisions will be age appropriate competition this coming season.
CONCORD, MA - The Assabet Valley Patriots Minor Hockey Association is pleased to announce that the Program has accepted the offer to join the New England Hockey League ("NEHL") for the 2009-2010 season. "After having evaluated various league platforms, we enthusiastically embrace the NEHL and its member organizations" said Assabet Valley President Greg Carter. "The league is professionally managed and will implement a comprehensive plan to drive parity at all levels ensuring NEHL member program teams compete against like opponents." With the addition of the Assabet Valley Patriots, the NEHL will now have 14 New England organizations competing from Mite Minor to Bantam Majors."
For more information on the NEHL, please visit their websites at www.thenehl.com .
The NEHL includes the following programs:
MA (5): Greater Boston Vipers (Malden), Valley Jr Warriors (Haverhill), Mill City Monsters (Methuen), Red Rangers (Tewksbury), Assabet Valley (Concord); NH (5): NH Avalanche (Hooksett), Cyclones (Hudson), Seacoast Spartans (Exeter), ProAmbition Panthers (Nashua), Monarchs (Hooksett)
VT: Green Mountain Glades (Burlington)
ME: Portland Jr Pirates (Saco)
CT: New England Falcons (Enfield)
NY: Albany Jr River Rats (Albany)
FL: Everblades
The New Hampshire Avalanche this past week was accepted into the NEHL for play beginning in the 2009-10 season. The Hooksett-based program will be a welcomed addition to the NEHL and will raise the level of competition across the board from Mites through Bantam Major. The NH Avalanche program is coming off a strong season of play in their final year in the Metropolitan Boston Hockey League (MBHL) with seven of its teams finishing in third place or higher. Three Avalanche teams finished the 2008-09 regular season in the #1 spot including the '96 squad and two undefeated teams - the '98 team (30-0-0) and the '00 team (17-0-1), which is a testament to the overall talent in the organization. The NEHL looks forward to another top program in New England joining what is already perceived as the premier AAA League in New England and will make for a very competitive 2009-10 season.

The 98's spotted the Riverhawks a 3-0 first period lead before settling down and ripping off 7 unanswered goals to coast to the victory. The Green Line of Kyle Lynch (3-2-5) Dante Maribito (2-3-5) and Kyle Hentosh (1-5-6) would account for 6 of the Vipers 8 goals. This would be a very chippy affair that saw the Vipers display incredible discipline to keep their cool throughout. Heath King and JT Chamberlain(1-1-2) would add singles for the Vipers. Chris Goggin, Rob Murphy and Patrick McCarthy all stepped up and played a fine game, the latter dishing out a nice check in the third period while holding the blue line. Aaron McDonnell and Andrew Krajeski shared the duties in this one and both did a fine job.
The 98's went up north to play the New Hampshire Avalanche and may not have won the game but continued to take great strides in their development this season dropping a 5-2 decision. Playing full contact for only the second game all season the Vipers more than held their own against a very talented Avs team. The Vipers played physical and matched the Avs shift to shift, but in the end the Vipers made a few to many mental errors that a good Avs team capitalized on. Avs jumped out ahead just 1:33 into the game and closed the period with the same lead. Heath King tied the game with one of the prettiest goals of the year as he took a feed from JT Chamberlain on the left wall and made a nice cut to the middle of the ice avoiding a check and wristed one over the glove. The Avs would then hit the Vipers with a crushing blow scoring 2 goals in the last 25 seconds of the second period, which the Vipers couldn't recover from. Dante Maribito would finish off a nice feed from Kyle Lynch to pull the Vipers within 1 but thats as close as they would get. Andrew Krajeski would come on in relief between the pipes to have a solid outing.
