It was a valiant effort on the part of the Vipers during this championship game.  Skating into the game the record for the Vipers was a 1-4 against this 1st place team. From the 1st faceoff, the Vipers fought hard both offensively and defensively keeping the Advantage away from scoring opportunities.  Goaltender Devereaux took a few shots but shut down the Advantage for most of the 1st period.   Maney was the first to get the Vipers on the scoreboard. The Worthley, Robbins and Maney line brought the puck down the ice Worthley handed it off to Robbins who then passed it to Maney for a shot past the pipes on the right.  With 4:12 left in the 1st period the score was 1-0.  3 minutes later the Advantage has a breakaway and tied it up just before the buzzer.  The score was 1-1 at the end of the 1st period.  Shortly into the second period, Robbins had another assist to Worthley taking the lead once more.  Goaltender Devereaux was replaced at the ½ of the 2nd period by Andersen.  The puck remained in the offensive end for most of the remaining 2nd period.  However, the Advantage took a hold of an opportunity and tied it up again.  The Advantage took the lead for the 1st time shortly into the 3rd period despite the constant shots on the Advantage goaltender.  But with perseverance and continued pressure, the Vipers remained in control of the game.  The Roberts, Alyward, Sasso line got control of the faceoff.  Roberts passed to Sasso who took a shot on goal and with his own rebound tied up the game with 3-3.  The game went into 5 minute overtime which the scoreboard remained unchanged at the end.  A shoot out began.  Worthley, Senier, Roberts, Robbins all had opportunity to score but the Advantage goaltender held them off.  Goaltender Andersen took the pressure with ease until the 5th shooter deked him and snuck it passed him on the right.  Haggerty had the opportunity to tie it up but the Advantage goaltender held him off.  Despite the loss, the Vipers had nothing to be ashamed about.  They fought hard. They fought as a team.  They played a great game!
